I have officially run out of time on my Plantar Faciitis. What I mean is I cannot take any more time off of running. I have tried and it is still there. I have to run now in spite of it. That means I am sure it will take forever to heal, but I have St. Anthony's coming up at the end of April and I am so far behind on my running its not even funny. Even though I bike and swim still, I am gaining weight which will make it all that much harder also getting back into the run.
At this point I am fairly resolved that St. Anthony's will just be a day to finish and hopefully legs will feel ok. Perhaps I will be better to focus on having a good race later in the season. But I will still have fun at St. Anthony's, it is a great race for anyone who has never been there.
Today was cold out so I rode my bike trainer for an hour this morning. Wasnt bad since the movie Rocky was on TV!

brian - i read a teeny article in the march 2007 issue of men's health today and thought of you. its about pf. go get the magazine, its page 48 and it talks about this stretch you can do to help pf. i tried it today and will keep trying it out. they did only a small study - something like 80 people, but over 60 got rid of their pain for good. hope it helps!!
Brian - here comes my unsolicited advice - take it or leave it, but I care about you and want you to heal!!!
I hope you reconsider running through your PF. Get on your bike and pound away. You WON'T lose your running conditioning. I promise! I once took a full month off of running, trying to get my pf to go away, then on the 31st day showed up at a marathon (Vegas) and was fine. Maybe a few minutes off my usual time, but at least my pf had a chance to go away.
I also slept in the "boot" every night.
If you are gaining weight, just start throwing away the last two bites of everything you eat. Even the "good" stuff. Just do it habitually until you get back on your feet.
Good luck, buddy.
